The Garden is Official

We got the garden started outside today. Only the plants that can withstand cold are out now (lettuce, broccoli, brussel sprouts); the others are safe and secure inside still (tomatoes, green beans, cucumbers) until April.

We also planted a smaller raised wildflower bed. The "star" of that bed is the Carolina Jesamine, which reminds me of our old house in North Carolina. It was my favorite plant in our backyard.

Tomorrow Phillip is building a small fence around the larger garden to keep the deer out. We're planning to plant a border of trees all the way of the perimeter of the house in a few weeks...but right now we're too sore to move, so we have to take a break!
